My Name is Keith, nice to meet you all here on this forum. I have been lurking here for almost a year before I decided to sign up. I thought that this site was more for strongman type training and athletes. Well I am very interested in Strongman type training since it does seem to be alot more functional for everyday type strength.

About me.

Well I am 31, married and have a daughter who is 4. I am in the Army and currently in FT. Hood TX (45 min north of Austin) I am going to be moving to FT. Lewis WA in the spring. I can't wait to go up to the Pacific NW, this heat in TX is killing me. I am from MN originally and hope to go back there some day. I miss the lakes and the four seasons.

I have been to Iraq in 2003 to 2004 for the beginning of the war. I hope that I do not have to go back for a second time. (I won't go into that haha)

About my training.

I have been seriously into strength and weight training for about 8 years. I currently stick to the weight room since that is all I have. I would like to try new things like Olympic lifting and strongman type training.
I have noticed that the way I go about my training and the things I do will make others watch me in the gym. (I train at Gold's Gym) For instance I will do farmers walks at Golds with the 150's and people will look at me like  "where is he going with those?" haha lol. That and I have made myself love squats. I do a full squat and not a half or chopped rep like most in my gym. Now I don't think that I am doing anything extraordinary but I guess when you compare what I do to the average gym goer.

About my goals.

I am first and foremost to be a good example and role model to my family. :)
I am going to buy my first home after I move to Washington next spring.
I am going to get a college degree.
I am going to get bigger and stronger! :BP:

Why I registered.

Well I should have along time ago. But upon hearing the sad news about Jesse I felt I needed to give my condolences. Even though I have not ever spoke to him or met him, I felt as though I knew him. When I hear of someone passing (that I don't know) it doesn't really affect me, But Jesse did. My first post was in the thread "Jesse" and he will be missed.

Well that about covers it.

Once again I am glad to be here. :)

Welcome Keith. As a Northwesterner, I can tell you it is really nice up here. I can't speak for the area that you will be heading to, but if you ever decide to venture west, Sequim and Port Angeles are great towns to visit. Let us know, we can set you up with the sights! LOL :M:

Nice to meet you Keith!!

Some thoughts about your post:

If you are getting funny looks at a commercial gym, you're doing something right.

If you are trying to set a good example for your family, you're doing something right.

If you are going to be training to get get stronger, you will get bigger, and you're doing something right.

Despite not wanting to go back (Can't blame you for that!!!!), you went to war to serve your country, you did something right!

Great to have you here!!
