i dont think there is any way you could embarrass (how do you spell that??) your self..., maybee tackling a mascott, or some thing stupid like that (wow this isn't aimed at anyone) :D

Embarrassment, i doubt kevin, but injury is something else. if you execute everything right, as you already have, then you should be free from injury.

it's exciting and especially inspiring to see you compete against competitors you once looked up to, and what's funny is that the athletes out there are still young! many have their own heros; you have yours, i have mine, and to compete with/against them is an opportunity not many have. we're all excited to have seen the recent results athletes on this board have put up. come next week, we will all hope for the best! :D

Kevin....anything you need just ask...any help I can give is yours.

Just remember we all bleed red and put our pants on 1 leg at a time....you will be fine and you will not embarrass yourself!

Just remember how far you have come and how old you are ... just the fact that you are competing in this contest is reason to hold your head high!! Embarassment should not even be an issue!! You represented yourself very well on True Life and that was one of the biggest spotlights a young strongman will ever see! Now get up to CT and have some fun with some amazing US athletes - Ostlund, MacDonald, Pope, Thigpen, Coy and not to mention the International comp. - Odd, Pudz, Janne, and Paulin (I guess I will count Canadians here - ha ha).

thanks guys...hearing this really does help...it kinda puts things into perspective. basically i'll just go out there and give it my best and just remember the things i have practiced in training and like you said sean....stay away from the injuries. also jesse and chad i will prolly take you up on any suggestions that you can give, thank you.

once again, thanks guys

Kevin this is what you need to do at every show.....this show will be no different than any show you have done....the guys that do welll will be the ones that do not make mistakes///don't get hurt and are strong..............You would not be invited if Odd did not believe in you and so did others..........so just go out give 100% and wherever the chips fall they fall....you will be at the show-alot of guys will not be....You will be fine....see you in a few days.....relax/read a book/ do whatevr it takes to get your mind off of the show until its time...then strap it up and bring it!

Kevin, not that I'm anywhere near the caliber you are when it comes to strongman, but when I was nervous about competing in a very large grip contest with some of the best talent in the US and abroad I got some great advice along the lines of what Chad said above. Someone told me "They're just men; they're your equals. No better and no worse. They have strengths and weaknesses just like you. You belong with them, and they belong with you."

Good luck to Dave, Kevin, Chad and anyone else competing tonight.

While you're at it, see what you can do to turn the Million Dollar Squat into the Million Dollar Yoke (Out the door, into your car, back to the batcave). I'll go halves with you.

I saw some results on Ironmind, but does anyone know more details? How did Ostlund do?

Also a quick question, when did Thigpen turn pro? Was it this year in KC?

Guy's it was an incredible show. Had the chance to share a drink with Jesse, Callie and the competitiors after the show and they were all first class. Jesse and Callie took a long time out of their night to talk to my training parnter and I about training, diet, etc, thanks Jesse really appreciated it. Mariusz was just himself, freaky. Jessen and Don were strong on all the events. Josh who turned pro at Art's show earlier this year dominated the stones and got 5 EASY reps with the axle. Kevin put on a great show, but killed himself in the squat and the medic's wanted him to take it easy. Dave had a good show, finished 9-10? I have a ton of pics I'll put up this weekend.

congrats to Don and Josh-THEY DESERVED IT!
Nee and Steve were awesomeas well.

Had my butt kicked.

4 days is too long to wait for a show....this year I wasted too much time going for POWER and not enough time doing strongman.
Farmers 385-5.5 m
308 axle( 23/8) 4 c&p in 60 sec...could not use belt just belly.....the press was stupid easy, but the clean killed you!
stones got first 5 in 53 and could have loaded the 420 with ease but time ran out...

Got cut so OSTLAND and I went and trained
AXLE -x3x3x3x4x4x4x5x5-- Marius liked the fact that I was training and he gave me a few pointers.
we did the squat after the show and the car hold......held the car for 32sec after doing 10 reps in the squat in 25-30sec...the best hold was 41 and teh best squat was 10 in 60sec...oh well...NOW JUST BUST BUTT FOR 2 WEEKS BEFORE LADYSMITH!

General ranking after four WSM SS events:

1. Mariusz Pudzianowski (POL) 40
2. Jesse Marunde (USA) 24.5
3. Janne Virtanen (FIN) 27.5
4. David Ostlund (USA) 14
5. Raivis Vidzis (LAT) 12
6. Michael Starow (UKR) 11
7. Slawomir Toczek (POL) 9
8. Jessen Paulin (CAN) 9
9. Dan Pope 8
10. Dominic Filiou (CAN) 7.5
11. Elbrus Nigmatullin (RUS) 7.5
12. Josh Thigpen 7
13. Steve Bourgeois (CAN) 5
14. Corey St.Clair (USA) 4
15. Odd Haugen (NOR) 4
16. Brian Irwin (IRL) 3
17. Kristinn Oscar Haraldsson (ICE) 3
18. Jim Glassmann (USA) 2
19. Ulf Eriksson (SWE) 2
20. Audunn Jonsson (ICL) 1
21. Michael Gosling (GBR) 1
22. Grant Higa (USA) 0
23. Tarmo Mitt (EST) 0
24. Carl Waitoa 0

I add points which athlets was awarded in Mohegan only for Pudzianowski, Paulin, Pope, Thigpen and Virtanen, because I haven't the rest results. Now I think that the first twelve strongmen have the qualification to event in China , of course Jarek Dymek too , because he has "bye". I will be grateful if somebody confirm my calculates.

Must have been cool talking to mariusz...according to steve kirit when he was training he hates seeing people using incorrect form, what was he like when he saw you training?
