I love Wendlervision.
Dave Tate: Jim, whats the best way to lose body fat, cardio wise?
Jim Wendler: Dave, Interval Training. Yes, thats the way you did it and the way everyone else does it. Interval training with Barbell Complexes.
I had the pleasure of going to the Boston Seminar and the video where Jim talks about shutting up, lifting weights, and stop reading the internet was one of the highlights of the seminar...aside from when he completely indirectly trashed my 10 extra lat workouts a week lol

Getting people to go with this is quite difficult. It is very effective however. And not boring like running or checkers.

But wasn't it sarcasm. I thought the point was that Dave did ZERO interval training. And most pro bodybuilders do no interval training either. I thought this was another of Wendler's way of saying don't listen to the internet and science guys and just do what has worked for hundreds of people in the past.

I dont think interval cardio is the way to go for alot of people...its the way to go to me because its the only cardio I enjoy doing. The best exercise is the one you will do and since cardio is necessary, I do interval stuff. Well, more so then anything, conditioning.
Dave was just saying (and he made this a point at the elitefts Boston Seminar) that he did not interval training, and neither do top bodybuilders, and he still made tremendous results. He made some great points as to why NOT to do it as well. Didnt say it didnt work, because it does, its just not necessary like all the guru's say it is.

That was kind of my point. Forever, it seems, just cardio has worked fine...so trying to get people to go against what you could call "conventional wisdom" is tough. The nice thing about it is that it doesn't suck per se, which was my other point.
It works for some and not others. But it aint, nor is anything, the end all be all.

I like the one about how they were talking about trends in the fitness industry and how that come a go over the years...one of the Elite guys blurted out "kettle bells!" and they all chuckle.

Dave's one on success is pretty cool too. They went around the room asking questions and they came to me and I was very unprepared so I blurted out "What do you attribute most to your success". The answer hit me really hard and made me realize a few things.http://youtube.com/watch?v=oxTnSs04k10

That's because Marc Bartley has been using KBs pretty heavily as I recall in training for a while. That's the thing, a lot of the "garbage" they poke at is stuff some of the guys in the room do. Or guys that write for them on occasion do. The big point of all of it is that this is a tool and that is a tool. Nothing is the end all be all, nothing is a magic fomula, but it is all viable resources - potential parts of the equation, if you will. And what works well for me, might not for you.

Yeah, I hear you dude. IMO, if you look at the routines of people that are world class/on top, how many of them make regular use of kettlebells? Very few. We could generate a long list of names if we wanted to. Kettlebells have been around for a long time, but it seems that lately they have become in vogue.
Different strokes for different folks. No big deal.

That was awesome. When I went to SC for my C17 familiarization class I got to train at Bartley's gym a few times and he is always messing around. A really nice guy too.

I had a blast hanging out with those guys in Boston. The one thing we discussed most is how high level athletes are doing more or less the same thing. I think there is another seminar in there this fall. I look forward to meeting up with them again. We just have to remember not to let Murph pick the restaurants.
