Oct 20, 2007 why is this date important! BECAUSE IN EXACTLY ONE YEAR I'M OUT OF THE MILITARY AND I CAN BE AN ACTUAL HUMAN BEING AGAIN, YES, AN ACTUAL ONE! Why, I've been planning to get out for the past three years, and I've only been in five. I like it yes, but lets see, recent back injury, yesterday I was sexually harrassed by a woman who outranks me (literally, I didn't even know this woman or who she was, and she walked up and started an attitude, then when I stood up from my tool bag she popped off about my size, pffft, ok, we can deal with that, charges on the spot.....I let her go later with a screaming at.....she was crying....what a wuss) I've been demeaned, overused, missing tons of training days due to not only injuries but exhaustion, terrible diet, lack of any orginization in life whatsoever, terrible pay, and due to overmanning its nearly impossible to gain rank..........funny isn't it, we are at war, people are dying, and I can't gain any rank............and to top it all off the navy owes me thousands in backpay and I have governors and congressmen making retarded line items in bills that are to give my ship more money to finish this shipyard period and refit, and the president has to veto it because WHY, because some jackMOD EDIT decided to not give the president the ability to do a line item veto, so he is forced to veto the ENTIRE thing so he can get the military's money where it needs to go, and not into the pockets of shady politicians! Ahem. Yeah, I'm kinda heated at the moment over this..............republican debate is playing on tv right now so I'm pretty fired about up all the bullcrap going on, since I'm in the middle of it and all. :disgust: :IMHO: (Go McCain, whoop MOD EDIT and take names)

You pretty much summed up my last year in the Marines. Now you understand why I left the Corps after 4 years and 2 combat tours. I also was injured my last year (2 knee operations...they tried to medically discharge me...I fought tooth and nail not to be and wasn't) Just save your leave and take a much terminal leave as possible homey. Life is better out here on the other side.

You said it Easton, I got buddies down in TX telling me to come live and train with them too because they miss me so damn much. Navy guys, but still, they got out and I'm so jealous. Yeah dude, knee injuries 90% of the time in the military get soooo effed up, makes you worse off. So that's a rough deal. Yeah, I'm at 5 right now, getting out at 6 with 2 west pacs and a 1 year IA in cuba down.

Actually, once you've been out little while you'll find yourself missing it (maybe not every day, but sometimes). I garantee it. I bet you'd cheer up with a PCS. I bet it's that rainy Washington weather that's making you depressed so get some orders to San Diego or something! I mean seriously, the Navy has bases in some awesome ports: Hawaii, Guam, Japan, San Diego, etc.
But seriously, good luck this last year. When the going gets tough, just remember that you're at least serving you country. Be proud of that.

Was on the Belleau Wood in San Dog, and been in sunny hurricany cuba, as well as TX, VA, and various other BS places. And a butt ton of ports. But yeah, I know I'll miss it, but I won't ever regret it. Only thing I regret is that its kept me from my ex Grace, whom I will prolly love till I die. Geo bachelor, she couldn't deal with me being at war, and was used to long distance as she's NZ and I'm US, but still, maybe her an I will still get together, I dunno, but I directly blame the navy on that one.

I definitly see what you're saying as far as missing out on parts of life. Good luck with the woman. If it's meant to be it'll happen man. And um, "anchors away"!? I forget your motto. Just trying to motivate you...Congrats on making it another year!

This is the most disorganized rant and rave. Next time take a deep breath and chill the mod edit out. The political situation we have in America is a complete mod edit. To blame the president's inability to line item veto is ridiculous. If he were allowed to do so he could drastically change bill, proposed and accepted by the majority of congressmen/women, and become a super-legislator. But this is marunde-muscle so Im not sure why we are speaking about political theatrics.

That, and some of us really think the line-item veto could go a long way toward eliminating crap from the budget...like the bridge to nowhere, the $18.4 billion to study native Alaskan grasshopper mating habits, etc. (Note that I said could, not would.) I'm not entirely convinced by the reasoning in Clinton v. New York. Plus, forty three states (including Washington, fwiw) have it available to their governors. It can't be all bad.
