About

An independent enthusiast register of the objects strength was measured against, and the places they have not left.

Marunde Muscle keeps one entry per object or per contest. Each carries the place it belongs to, its weight where a weight exists, the rule that decides whether a lift counts there, and a plain statement of how well the story attached to it is documented. Seventeen entries, five sections, and a register page that lists all of them.

The order of preference is simple: a figure that has been on a weighbridge, then a figure repeatedly reported by people who were present, then a figure that survives only as tradition. All three appear on the site. Only the first is called documented.

What this site is not

It is not a club, a federation or a governing body, and it does not organise, enter or record competitions. It carries no training material of any kind: no programmes, no technique, no coaching, no progressions. Nothing here is written to be acted on with a heavy object.

It also carries nothing about drugs, testing or supplements, and no medical or nutritional claims. Where a living person is named it is for a documented feat and nothing else.

Where sources disagree about a mass or a distance, the entry prints both figures and says which is which. Where the record is only repetition, it says that too.

Sources and corrections

Photographs are credited beneath each figure. Maps are drawn from surveyed coordinates rather than sketched. If an entry has a figure wrong, or a provenance that can be documented properly, that is the most useful thing anybody can send in — see contact.
